There is a small bit of an ancient sculpture usually called the Vulture Stele in the Louvre. It is the oldest known depiction of organized warfare, a remnant of a war fought very near what is going on today in the hot wastes where war itself began. Largely because of its position at the joint of Europe, Asia, and Africa, it is the most fought over area in the world.
So what has changed? Nothing except the technology, and that has changed everything. At least up until August 6th, 1945, the amount of damage any war could achieve was limited to the area in conflict. That is no longer true. So the game they are playing there now, and into which we and who knows who else could be drawn is one no one truly comprehends. In the end, it is all proof of nothing so much as our collective insanity.
You can't change a country's ideology. I would think Israel of all countries would know that.
